YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — 网赌网站 recently distributed $509,660 it received as part of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to directly assist eligible students who are facing financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Many people are facing health and economic hardships due to COVID-19, including 网赌网站 students,” said College President Dr. Drew L. Van Horn. “We care deeply about the wellbeing of our students and are proud to provide 542 qualifying students with a total of $509,660 that the College received from the CARES Act. We hope these grants will help students get back on their feet and continue pursuing their higher education at 网赌网站.”

The Emergency Financial Aid Grants can be used by students for COVID-19-related expenses and disruptions as allowable under the stipulations of the federal CARES Act (e.g., housing, utilities, food, technology, books, supplies, transportation, gas and insurance).

“I’m proud of our Financial Aid and Business Office teams for moving quickly to apply for and distribute the CARES Act funding received at 网赌网站,” said Chief Operating Officer Bo Wright. “Within seven business days of receiving the money, the team followed the methodology to identify qualifying students and distribute the funds to those students appropriately.”

As required by the Department of Education, below are additional details about the CARES Act funding received by 网赌网站:

1. An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

On April 15, 2020, 网赌网站 signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement with the assurance that the institution will use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

2. The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

On April 27, 2020, 网赌网站 received $509,660 to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the 30-day Report and every 45 days thereafter).

On May 5, 2020, 网赌网站 distributed the total $509,660 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

4. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

Because no student is required to file a FAFSA, the estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV cannot be determined.

5. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

A total of 542 网赌网站 students received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant.
